A longtime fixture of Findlay Market is branching out to a growing Cincinnati neighborhood.

Dean's Mediterranean Imports will open a location in a development, located at 4024 Hamilton Ave., spearheaded by Northsiders Engaged in Sustainable Transformation (NEST), the neighborhood’s community development organization, officials announced this week.

In a statement, Sarah Thomas, NEST's executive director, said Dean's is the first retail investment in Northside’s business district in the nonprofit developer's nearly 25-year history in the neighborhood. The goal, she said, is to have the space open in summer 2023.

Dean's will be located on the building's first floor; the remaining two floors are not yet leased. Dean's will occupy roughly 1,700 square feet of space, with an additional 1,000-square-foot patio, Thomas said.

Dean's first opened in Findlay Market in 1985 and is known for its in-house roasted nuts, bulk spices and an expansive selection of olive oils. It's owned by second-generation owner Kate Zaidan.

"Northside is the perfect place for our concept, as a growing community with a taste for something different," Zaidan said in a statement. "Our new concept will transport our customers to our ancestral home of Lebanon where delicious food and hospitality reign. We will be curating a culinary experience unlike anything else in Cincinnati, reminiscent of the ancient souks of the Middle East."
